29 Nov., Kathmandu : Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said Nepal should maintain balanced relations with all countries of the world, including neighbours, by keeping in centre the national interest. At a workshop organised by Nepal-China Media Forum here Friday, Chairman Dahal said, “We should not be supporter of any country.
Let’s keep Nepal at the centre. Country’s sovereignty and protection of nationality should be priority of Nepalis.” Also the former prime minister, Chairman Dahal focused the acceptance of assistance on the basis of balanced relations to fulfill Nepali people’s need of socio-economic developments. He added that the balanced relations should be utilized for Nepal’s development. Saying new dimensions have been added in bilateral relations after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Nepal visit, the NCP Chairman expressed the view that all Nepalis became excited after Xi’s announcement to help in the progress of Nepal as a land-linked country.
He also said that China’s policy towards Nepal is stable, adding Nepal always has firm adherence to the One-China policy and every government gives continuity to it. The former PM stressed that the media sector should influence people’s mandate on the issues of national importance by strengthening national unity, protection of territorial integrity, people’s sovereignty and independence. Pointing out the need of resolving border problems with India through political and diplomatic channels, he said there was no alternative to moving ahead being responsible towards the issue.
The NCP Chairman said, “We have seriously drawn attention of India about Kalapani issue.” On a different note, he expressed the view that trilateral agreement among Nepal, China and India would be beneficial for all three countries Similarly, former Finance Minister, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, said Nepal could take benefit from development achieved by China. Similarly, Deputy-Chief of NCP Foreign Affairs Department, Bishnu Rijal, said that the relations between Nepal and China entered towards strategic partnership from recent Nepal visit of Chinese President.
