Rashik Comes To His Birthplace For Solo Musical Show

72 Feb., Itahari : ”I was asked about my home address by a hotel owner woman today morning”, Nepal’s veteran lyricist, musician, singer and essayist Ganesh Rashik told to a crowd of Temkemaiyung of Bhojpur Wednesday evening. ”I said my home address is Temkemaiyung-2, Naule Gaun, Chhinamakhu.” Rashik jokingly said he had to tell his home address even in his birthplace.

”I migrated from this beautiful birthplace some 56 years ago”, stated smiling septuagenarian musician and literary figure of Nepal. Rashik said so while giving his first solo musical evening in his birthplace. Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality had invited Rashik for his solo musical evening as the concluding event of 2-day-long Temkemaiyung Mundhum Touristic Cultural Festival 2020.

During 2-hour-long solo musical evening starting from 4:46 PM on Wednesday, Rashik performed his typical 14 songs. Popularly known among Nepal’s musical mass by his patriotic musical group in his youthhood named ‘Lekali Samuha’, Rashik started and ended his show with patriotic songs. He also performed his some of the romantic and awareness songs in-between. Different songs titled ‘Suna Nepali ho”, ”Gharbeti naani”, ”Rato bhaale kwekh kwekh”, among others, drew a thunderous applause from hall-packed audience at the covered hall of the Rural Municipality.

Along with performer Rashik with harmonium, five other member of the solo musical evening team included guitarist Bhupendra Rai, flutist Mitra Magar, keyboardist Bhim Kerung, Tabalist Pawan Adhikari and drummer Gaurab Subba. Benuka Rai and Bhupendra Rai joined Rashik as supporting female and male voice respectively. ”I performed my first solo musical performance in my birthplace at the age of 73”, said emotional Rashik before concluding his show. ”If I stay alive, I want to performance at the age of 84 also in my birthplace.”
