COVID-19: 1,351 new cases reported across country

28 Sept, Kathmandu : The country on Monday recorded a total of 1,351 new cases of coronavirus infection while 742 infected ones fully recovered from the virus, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

With this, the tally of corona virus infected has reached 74,745 in the country, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said in a daily press briefing this afternoon. He shared that the country now has altogether 19,624 active cases of coronavirus disease. Of the active cases, 225 patients are receiving treatment in ICU and 31 are in ventilators.

Gautam further said that Morang, Siraha, Rupandehi, Chitwan, Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have more than 500 active cases each while Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Manang and Mustang do not have a single active case.  It is said that 10,080 RT-PCR tests were carried out in various laboratories across the country in the past 24 hours.

He stated that the Kathmandu Valley recorded 817 cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours including 649 in Kathmandu, 132 in Lalitpur district and 36 in Bhaktapur. Likewise, Dr Gautam said that 8,695 individuals are in institutional isolation facilities while 10,929 individuals are in home isolation, and 6,310 people are in quarantine facilities across the country.

According to Dr Gatuam, the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients is 73.1 per cent in Nepal. Similarly, four people including two women died of the virus in the past 24 hours. The recent deaths were reported from Bhaktapur, Sunsari, Banke and Gulmi. With the recent deaths, the number of coronavirus-caused fatalities has reached 481 in the country.
