Doctor, staff of Malu COVID Hospital manhandled

Charikot : A doctor and a staff of Malu COVID Hospital at Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4 in Dolakha district were manhandled on Saturday midnight.

Some local youth entered the Hospital and manhandled Dr Robish Karki and office assistant Top Bahadur Mijar, said Ward Chairperson of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-4 Hom Bahadur Shrestha.

According to Chairperson of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality Ishwor Chandra Pokharel, the youth manhandled Dr Karki and office assistant Mijar by giving an undue pressure to carry out treatment of other patients in addition to the COVID-19 patients.

Dr Karki said that the four youth entered the hospital after jumping off the locked gate of the hospital despite repeated requests not to enter inside the hospital as the COVID-19 patients were receiving treatment there.

Dr Karki added, “We even told them to carry out their treatment separately if they have any health problems but the locals started manhandling us all of sudden.”

Police have arrested Gopal Timilsina, Roshan Pokharel and Biju Nepali on charge of misbehaving with the doctor and hospital staff. Investigations into the case were underway and actions would be taken against them as per the law, said Police Chief of Dolakha, Bhesh Raj Rijal.
