Eight police personnel get clean chit : Nirmala Pant’s Murder

Kanchanpur : Eight police personnel including a Superintendent of Police (SP) who were facing charge-sheet on crime and torture in connection to the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Pant of Bhimduttanagar Municipality have got clean chit today from the Kanchanpur District Court.

District Judge Gopal Prasad Bastola gave clean chit to the then district chief of police SP Dilliraj Bista, DSP Angur GC and other police officials. Following the rape and murder of Nirmala, Bista was also sacked from the job from the Nepal Police.

Registrar at the District Court, Yaduraj Sharma, said that the police officers were exempted of the allegations since their involvement was not found in evidences destruction.

The case was lodged at the District Court against the eight police personnel claiming that accused Dilip Singh Bista, 41, of the municipality was tortured and the evidences destroyed in this connection. The case was filed by Nirmala’s mother Durga Devi Pant.

The police personnel getting clean chit include SP Bista, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gyan Bahadur Sethi, DSP of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) GC, Police Inspectors Yekindra Khadka and Jagadish Prasad Bhatta, Sub-Inspectors duo Hari Singh Dhami and Ram Singh Dhami, and Police Constable Chandani Saud.
