HAN hails KMC budget on tax exemption

Kathmandu :  The Hotel Association of Nepal – the umbrella organization of hotel entrepreneurs – has hailed the budget unveiled by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) for the fiscal year 2021/22.

Issuing a press release today, HAN extended its gratefulness to the KMC for exempting huge property tax in order to revitalize the hardest-hit hotel industries. The HAN owed its thanks to the KMC office-bearers, including mayor for endorsing the policy of offering the opportunity to pandemic-affected hotel industries through the municipal assembly.

The Association said that the waiver of tax has rendered relief to the hotel entrepreneurs in the critical context of second wave of COVID-19. KMC had offered 85 percent tax exemption, including 75 percent last year and 10 percent tax this year for those paying tax timely taking into consideration the recommendations of HAN.

The HAN has also urged other local levels to extend such support for the revitalization of toruism industry.
