Local levels in Kanchanupur prioritize agriculture, health care

25 June, Mahendranagar : Five local levels in Kanchanpur district on Wednesday brought the budget for the fiscal year 2020/21 with priority on agriculture, animal husbandry, health care, employment generation, physical infrastructure development and touristic sites’ promotion.

Bedkot Municipality has unveiled the budget of Rs 724 million on its seventh municipal assembly. As per the announcement, Rs 40 million has been allocated for development of infrastructure to setup 100-bed isolation bed for the control of COVID-19, purchase fire engine, ambulance and health materials.

Similarly, Punarbas Municipality has brought the budget of Rs 671 million with priority to health care, agriculture and self-employment programmes for foreign returnees, Mayor Jibanraj Thapa said.

Thapa added that Rs 15 million is allocated to contain the infection of coronavirus while Rs 10.05 million for the disaster management programmes. Likewise, Mahakali Municipality released the budget of Rs 547 million for the upcoming fiscal year.

Deputy Mayor Chini Giri said that Rs 22.5 million is allocated for health care service and Rs 10 million for the control of coronavirus infection. She shared that Rs 8 million is for education and Rs 3 million for agriculture. Furthermore, Krishnapur Municipality has unveiled the budget of Rs 881.3 million with priority to agriculture and employment generation.

Commercial livestock farming and vegetable farming would be used for poverty alleviation in the municipality as proposed in the budget. The municipality has allocated budget for drinking water supplies and sanitation programmes.

On Wednesday itself, Shuklaphanta Municipality introduced the budget of Rs 690.5 million on its seventh municipal assembly. Deputy Mayor Tulsi Devi Hamal presented the budget with priority to employment generation, infrastructure development, and control and prevention of the coronavirus infection.
