NCP leader Gautam attends paddy plantation

June 29 Lalitpur : Nepal Communist Party (NCP) vice-chair Bamdev Gautam has attended paddy plantation at Bhainsepati in Lalitpur on the occasion of the 17th National Paddy Day and Plantation Festival today.

Leader Gautam, also the in-charge of Nepal Farmers’ Federation, said that all Nepali people should utilize their lands for commercial production to earn currency.

He also called for the government to devise measures to prevent the outbreak of deadly locusts (Salaha) which can cause a big damage to the crops of farmers. Leader Gautam said that the government should provide compensation to the farmers for the loss caused by the insect.

However, he claimed that the locusts would not cause substantial level of damages to the farmers in many places due to geographical terrain of Nepal.
