Press Release In Nepali Language Just To Muffle Twitter & Facebook Users

7 Nov., Kathmandu: There has been normal practice that foreign affairs related press releases are issued in English language but surprisingly Ministry of Foreign Affairs has published a press release only in Nepali language this time.  The release doesn’t bear the name and designation of the signatory either.

There is only an initial signature in the press release. It seemed to have been issued just for the sake of responding to the people’s reactions made through Facebook and Twitter. Generally Ambassadors of the concerned countries are being called up and questioned when dispute over political boundaries arise between the two countries. Nothing as such has been done so far. Press release has been issued just for the sake of publishing it and that is also merely in Nepali Language.

Nepalese people are not so imprudent that they want their government to send their troop to Kalapani. However, some of the diplomats and political analysts hinted that press release is issued just to mute the users of social networks specially those of Facebook and Twitter like casting dark shadow over the midday sun with the clear mindset of keeping the size of voters intact in their favor in upcoming by-election slated for December this year.  Amid such boarder dispute issue, there has been massive criticism on Facebook and Twitter with regard to the language and intent of press release.

In the press release, Nepal government claims Kalapani is a part of Nepal’s territory in one hand while on the other, it also accepts Kalapani as the disputed territory and disputed matters shall be sorted out through diplomatic channels. Amid people’s growing demand to put forth Nepal Government’s clear cut concept over the Kalapani issue, it wants to resolve the issue through mutual understanding by accepting that Kalapani as a disputed territory instead.

Some political wings of ruling party have been dramatizing by staging protest rally. This is just owing to the fear that Facebook and Twitter users may leave negative impression against the ruling party which is likely to hamper them in upcoming by-election. The sister organizations of the ruling party have shouted slogan” Go Back India” fearing that such boarder issue like that of Guthi might create polarization within the party per se if the Party fails to stage such protest. 

The protestors were not found hostile and aggressive and there has been no flavor of patriotism in their body language either. It is clearly visible that the slogan “Go Back India” is being shouted merely with the strategy of protecting the pseudo patriots, who have idealized 12 points agreement with Delhi as their guiding principle, from polarization.
