Workers stuck on highway due to lockdown rescued

31 March Rajapur :  The Barbardiya Municipality has rescued 128 workers stranded on the highway due to the lockdown. The workers from the municipality were rescued from Kohalpur.

It is said the workers were returning to their homes following the closure of work by various projects they were working in after the government enforced the lockdown since March 24 in view of COVID-19.

Although the project and companies had said they would arrange for the workers’ travel to their homes, they had been brought only up to Kohalpur and left there.

Municipality mayor Durga Bahadur Tharu Kabir said the stranded workers were rescued and brought to their homes after they informed the municipality about their condition. He said face masks were provided to the rescued workers and their travel details also collected.

Their health was also examined by doctors before sending them to quarantine at their respective houses.
