NC condemns arrest of Upadhyaya, demands his release

23 April, Kathmandu : The Nepali Congress has expressed concern over the arrest of former secretary Bhim Upadhyaya accusing him of spreading ‘rumours’ in social media.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Bahadur Singh Lama, coordinator of the committee overseeing the portfolio of Communications and Information Technology of the NC parliamentary party, the NC has condemned the arrest of Upadhyaya.

The NC demanded his release without any condition stating that the arrest of Upadhyay was against the spirit of the Constitution. The Constitution has guaranteed rights of opinion and freedom of expression to every citizen, the statement said.
