Glocal Teen Hero : A National Platform For Teenagers!

Kathmandu : Glocal Teen Hero (GTH) is an initiation of Glocal Pvt. Ltd.,(a business enterprise working in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, and skilling) to bring out the teenagers who are doing something beyond their academics and are active to create a positive effect in their society. It provides a platform for Nepali teenagers to showcase their talent, creativity, and initiatives. The platform encourages teenagers to develop entrepreneurial thinking. It is a fully-funded program for Nepali Teenagers.

The overall purpose of this program is to motivate and encourage teenagers to step out of their comfort zone, be creative, and nurture entrepreneurial thinking. It also acts out as a great platform for teenagers to network with delegates from various industries in Nepal.

Glocal Teen Hero started from the year 2015, targeting only teenagers from Kathmandu, and later by 2016, it expanded to the nations in order to provide a national platform for all the teenagers. GTH has already marked a great history by recognizing teenagers from the year 2015 to 2019. GTH has recognized 71 teenagers from Nepal. Till now, 5 teen heroes have been recognized with the title of “Glocal Teen Hero” and other motivating teenagers were recognized as early change-makers and facilitated with the title of “Glocal`s 20under20” for their contribution and impacts in the society.

Currently, Glocal Teen Hero Franchise has been leading in different South Asian Countries. It also aims to take GTH to all over the world by 2030. Glocal Teen Hero provides an opportunity for a lifetime, not only to the winner but all the applicants, finalists, and other teenagers to develop themselves through networking, collaboration, and pooling of opportunities.

This is the sixth year of the first-ever program designed in the country to recognize dedicated, passionate, and innovative teenagers so as to encourage their initiatives. Bipana Sharma, a 17-year old child rights activist from Sunwal, Nawalparasi; Shantosh Lamichhane, a young scientist from Lalitpur; Sachin Dangi, 18-year-old Social Activist from Dang; and Prashansha KC, 17 years old Social Activist from Rukum were felicitated with the First, Second, Third and Fourth Glocal Teen Hero awards in the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively. Similarly, Samir Phuyal, Tech Enthusiast from Morang became Glocal Teen Hero in 2019.

This year, considering the global pandemic COVID – 19; Glocal Teen Hero Nepal shall be hosted virtually on December 12, 2020. At first, Glocal’s 20under20 shall be announced from total applications. After that, the top 6 finalists will be shortlisted for the final round of the Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero – Nepal based on initiation and the impact of their work. Then the finalist will be interviewed online and individually judged by a jury team comprising of Mr. Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, General Manager of Turkish Airlines; Mr. Ujjwal Shrestha, Executive Director of Panchakanya Group; Mrs. Ritu S. Vaidya, Managing Director at United Traders Syndicate Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Varun Chaudhary, Executive Director of CG Corp Global and Mr. Anil Chitrakar, President of Siddhartha Inc.

On the event day, The one fantastic teenager will be titled as “Glocal Teen Hero – Nepal” and also be recognized as one of the Fantastic Teenagers in the Global. The winner will be given a chance to share his/her inspirational initiation and aspiration for the future.

Applications for Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero – Nepal has already opened from September 1, 2020. The application is free and can be filled online at https://nepal.glocalteenhero.com. The deadline for the application is November 14, 2020.

Eligibility:
1. Must be 13 – 19 years old.
2. Should be Nepalese Citizen.
3. Must have created an impact besides academics.
