Jocelyn Benson says armed protesters targeted the Michigan official’s home
Kathmandu: Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says armed demonstrators gathered outside her home to protest against alleged election fraud.
She said “dozens” of people arrived at her home on Saturday evening as she was putting up Christmas decorations with her son. Protesters shouted “stop the steal!”, echoing claims of voter fraud made by President Donald Trump.
Attorney General William Barr has said there is no proof to back these claims. Ms Benson has joined a growing number of government and election officials targeted by protesters this year over the 2020 election.
In a statement posted to Twitter on Sunday, Ms Benson, a Democrat, said that protesters made “unambiguous, loud and threatening” demands outside her Detroit home to overturn the state’s election results. bbc
