Accident blast kills 3 Taliban militants in W. Afghanistan
Afghanistan: Three Taliban militants were killed on Monday morning when a homemade improvised roadside bomb they were planting exploded prematurely in Afghanistan’s western Herat province, the local government confirmed.
The incident occurred along a district road in Adraskan district, in the south of provincial capital Herat city early Monday, the government said in a statement.
Militants in Afghanistan have been using the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to make roadside bombs and landmines to target security forces, but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.
More than 920 civilians were killed and over 1,640 others wounded in IED explosions in 2020, according to official figures.
