RSS General Manager Rai assumes office

Kathmandu: Newly appointed General Manager of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Siddha Raj Rai has assumed office at the news agency’s Central Office today.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on June 21 had appointed him to the post of General Manager of the National News Agency for a four-year term. He took charge of office after receiving the appointment letter at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

RSS Chairman Harihar Adhikari ‘Shyamal’ received Rai at the RSS Office at Bhadrakali and congratulated him. Department heads, journalists and staff who were present on the occasion welcomed the new GM.

On the occasion, General Manager Rai expressed his commitment to take initiatives for enhancing the quality, effectiveness and promptness of RSS news service. He opined that the quality of the service could not be improved unless the correspondents and journalists were made well-equipped with means and resources as well as happy.

Born in Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality-4 of Dhankuta district, Rai had started his journalism career from the ‘News Times’ vernacular weekly published from Dharan since 2055 BS.
He continued journalism from mofussil for long time and also did it in Kathmandu.

Rai further excelled journalism at the Nepal Samacharpatra daily and the Nagarik daily. Currently, he is working as an editor at an online news portal- dekhapadhi.com. Rai has done Master’s Degree in Mass Communications and Journalism.

He was also the central members of the Federation of Nepalis Journalists, and Press Chautari Nepal.
