Saurya Airlines to start Biratnagar-Bhairahawa direct flight service

Kathmandu: The Saurya Airlines is operating direct flight services between the country’s popular industrial and touristic cities, Biratnagar ad Bhairahawa, from Kartik 22.

Chairpersons of the Airlines Board of Directors, Deepak Pokharel told RSS that the company has emphatically decided to operate direct flights between the two cities for tourism promotion. Also, there was a growing demand from passengers that also encouraged the Airlines to take the decision to this effect, he added.

Biratnagar is the capital of province-1 while Bhairahawa having recently-upgraded international airport is a city close to the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Earlier, there was no direct flights between the two cities.

The air travel between the two cities would take 53 minutes, shared Pokharel. The Sourya Airlines has become the first to provide service between Biratnagar and Bhairahawa and it would largely benefit the people from the Province-1 and Lumbini Province.

It may be noted that annually thousands of Indian, Bhutanese and Myanmar tourists have entered Lumbini via Kakadbhitta and Biratnagar of eastern Nepal to visit the birthplace of Lord Gauatam Buddha. “The direct flight service would end the compulsion of Lumbini visitors to stay in transit in Kathmandu. The foreign and domestic tourists can reach Bhairahawa from Biratnagar through direct flight and vice-versa”, Chair Pokharel further shared.

“It would save time and costs of the passengers”, he said. The Airlines has been operating domestic flights in Nepal for the past eight years. —
