159 local level wards without online registration facilities

Kathmandu. One hundred and fifty-nine out of the 6,743 local level wards across the country have not yet registered vital statistics through online, the Department of National ID and Civil Registration said.

This information was shared in a programme UNICEF and the Forum for Women, Law and Development organized here today on the occasion of the Civil registration Week. It is said 159 local level wards have not been able to make online civil registration due to internet-related problems. Six thousand five hundred and eighty-four wards have been making civil registration online.

Department's director-general Rudra Prasad Pandit said that the problem would be addressed by organising civil registration camps at each ward. He urged for voicing the problems encountered in the civil registration.

The birth registration of 366 offspring of single women has been done in the four days since the Department issued a circular for civil registration to the local levels 15 days back, according to Pandit.

He also shared that the language of the circular has been amended within four days of receiving suggestion to this end.
