NC president Deuba mourns Mukesh Kayastha

Kathmandu : Nepali Congress president and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed sorrow over the death of 32-year-old Mukesh Kayastha who was known as a 'living martyr'. 

Kayastha was grievously injured in police firing while taking part in a protest rally organized in Banepa on April 9, 2006 in course of the People's Movement 2006/07. He was in a vegetative condition since then and passed away at the Scheer Memorial Hospital on Wednesday evening.

In a condolence message, the Nepali Congress president said that he is shocked and saddened by the news of the death of 'living martyr' Kayastha who took part in the movement for restoration of democracy at 14 years of age, putting his life at risk. 

Stating that the present political achievements were possible due to the incomparable contribution of Mukesh and brave martyrs like him, former PM Deuba said the role played by Mukesh in Nepal's democratic movement will always be remembered in the country's history. Deuba paid tributes to Kayastha and wished for his eternal peace. He also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
