CAN suspends national cricket team former skipper Sandeep

Kathmandu: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has suspended player of Nepali national cricket team and former captain, Sandeep Lamichhane.

Issuing a press release today, CAN Chairperson Chatur Bahadur Chand said Sandeep has been suspended from national and international matches as the Kathmandu District Court had already declared him guilty in a rape case. 

The Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday had slapped eight years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500,000 on Lamichhane. A single bench of Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal issued such verdict. The court on December 29, 2023 had declared Sandeep guilty on the charge of raping 'Gaushala-26'.
