4H's suggestion to impose green tax on industry
Kathmandu : 4H Nepal has demanded to impose green tax on factories and industries. It has been claimed that the green tax should be imposed for climate justice as the industry has caused damage to the environment and the environment.
At the same time, 4HNepal submitted a 10-point agricultural climate declaration to Kusum Devi Thapa, Chairperson of Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee. The declaration was submitted by 4H Nepal President Lokraj Awasthi and 100 young eco-leaders to President Kusum Devi Thapa. The declaration was passed by the 3rd Agriculture Climate Youth Leadership Summit held in Chitwan from 13th to 15th June 2081.
In the manifesto, it is emphasized that the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector should be addressed. In order to minimize climate change, a unified national policy should be brought for environment and environmental protection, environmental damage should be declared as a crime and penalties should be imposed, the government should impose green tax on industries and factories, and green economy should be prioritized.
In the manifesto, youth agriculture policy should be brought, policies and programs should be brought for family farming and individual farming farmers, Raithane farming system should be promoted by attracting youth to agriculture and the federal, state and local governments should coordinate and provide grants and concessions in a way that does not repeat, etc. Demands have been made.
4H Nepal has requested the government to amend the National Agricultural Policy 2061 according to the current needs and take various reform measures to make the agricultural sector attractive and profitable for the youth.
4H Nepal urges the committee to make necessary policy changes and take concrete steps to minimize the negative effects of climate change in the agricultural sector. In addition, it noted that climate adaptation is indispensable to meet the goals of sustainable development and increase the involvement of youth in the agricultural sector.
Understanding the manifesto, Chairperson Kusum Devi Thapa promised to take initiatives for the implementation of the demands made by the youth as they are fair and just. Stating that she is fully committed to environmental protection and climate justice, she expressed her commitment to take initiatives for the creation of more effective laws and their implementation.
Lokraj Awasthi, president of 4H Nepal, emphasized that the government should make the youth participate in policy making as the youth play a key role in environmental protection and reducing climate change. In addition, he said that the government should pay attention to the introduction of a youth agriculture policy as the youth do not have access to land, resources and skills in agriculture.
