President conveys greetings on Maghe Sankranti

Kathmandu:  President Ramchandra Paudel has conveyed his belief that the Maghe Sankranti festival will motivate everyone to foster a civilized, cultured, and equitable society while safeguarding nature and cultural heritage.

In a message issued today in honor of Maghe Sankranti, the President has offered his heartfelt wishes to all Nepali citizens, both domestically and internationally, for their happiness, peace, and prosperity.

Various communities commemorate this festival in their unique ways. The Tharu community celebrates it as their New Year, while residents of the Tarai district observe it as a bathing festival known as Nahan.

The President has also highlighted the tradition of taking holy baths and performing puja at various sacred sites, including Barahchhetra, Devghat, Ridi, and others.

President Paudel emphasized that such festivals play a vital role in enhancing Nepal's reputation by fostering a shared identity among Nepalis through the celebration of our distinctive festivals and the rich tapestry of cultural and ethnic diversity.

He expressed confidence that these celebrations would promote brotherhood, mutual understanding, and tolerance, thereby further reinforcing our national unity.
