Now there will be a charge for interbank ATM transactions

Kathmandu. From January 1, service charges will be levied for using one bank’s card in another bank’s ATM. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Thursday issued payment instructions and made arrangements to charge fees for inter-bank ATM transactions.

However, it has been instructed to make it free to use only twice a month. NRB has made an arrangement not to charge more than Rs 20 per transaction for more than two transactions.

Due to the impact of Corona, inter-ATM transactions were done free of cost by the banks from the second week of last April. Later, the NRB issued a directive not to charge fees for inter-bank ATM transactions until further notice.

The NRB has set a maximum limit of Rs 20 per transaction by issuing the directive today. Earlier, the maximum fee was not fixed.

Similarly, NRB has made an arrangement to charge the customers only after informing them about the fees for electronic banking services such as mobile banking and SMS banking.
