Betrawati, Aug 13 : Two persons drowned to death in a deep puddle made in course of the extraction of sand at Kakani rural municipality in Nuwakot on Monday. Binita Balami, 13, a local, and Laxmi Tamang, 35, a permanent resident of Fikkal rural municipality, Sindhuli, died after they were drown in the pit which was created in course of unlawful extraction of sand on the banks of Kolpu rivulet in Okhapauwa, Nuwakot Police confirmed.

Tamang died while she was opting to save the life of Balami. According to Nuwakot CDO, Drona Pokharel, the accident took place at around 5.30 pm on Monday. Locals have been protesting the unlawful extraction of sands in Nuwakot which they said have become the prime cause of catastrophic deaths of locals. rss
