Corona Virus 581 new cases with 168 in valley

: Kathmandu : A total of 581 new cases of Corona Virus was confirmed today, including 168 in Kathmandu valley. The new infections include 408 men and 173 women in the 11,520 sample tests carried out in laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours, according to Ministry of Health and Population. So far, 529,727 samples have been tested through the PCR method for Corona Virus.

The new cases in Kathmandu valley includes 139 in Kathmandu, 15 in Lalitpur and 14 in Bhaktapur, said MoHP Spokesperson Dr Jageswar Gautam at the routine daily press meet today. The total number of infection has reached 2,134 in the valley with 1,705 in Kathmandu, 147 in Bhaktapur and 282 in Lalitpur.

Meanwhile, 160 people were discharged after recovering from the virus in various isolation centres today. With this, the total number of recovery has reached 17,795. A total of 15,198 people are still in quarantine with 9,639 active cases. Among the infected, 7,038 are in institutional isolation while 2,601 are in home-based isolation.

Meanwhile, three more people died of COVID-19 today, taking the death toll to 107 in the country. A 32-year-old man died in Rautahat, a 58-year-old woman in Kathmandu and a 60-year-old man in Morang succumbed to the virus.

Of the 77 districts in the country, five districts have more than 500 cases while five districts have zero case. Those with more than 500 cases are Morang, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari and Kathmandu. Sankhuwasabha, Manang, Mustang, Dolpa and Humla currently do not have a single case.
