National tally climbs to 17,061 with 116 new cases ; 34 discharged after recovery

Kathmandu : As many as 116 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Nepal during the recent 24 hours. The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed the infection of the deadly virus among 116 people out of 4,361 sample tests.

The highest number of infection cases (21) has been detected in Dhanusha in the State-2. Likewise, it entails 19 in Mahottari, 14 in Achham, five each in Palpa, Dang and Kailali, four in Jumla, three each in Dhankuta, Rolpa, Pyuthan and Arghakhanchi, two each in Ilam, Parsa, Kavre, Gorkha, Kathmandu and Nawalparasi (East).

Likewise, one each new case was detected in Siraha, Sunsari, Terhathum, Jhapa, Nuwakot, Rautahat, Sindhuli, Okhaldhunga, Sindhupalchowk, Surkhet, Banke, Bardiya and Kanchanpur, said spokesperson of Ministry of Health and Population Dr Jageswor Gautam.

With the addition, the national tally has reached 17,061 infected cases. In the past 24 hours, as many as 34 corona infected returned home after recovery. As of today, the number of infected discharged from the hospital has reached 10,328. Roughly 60.53 percent of the total infected have recovered and discharged from the hospitals, he informed.
