‘Save Girl Child’ campaign kicks off in Surkhet
Kathmandu : The ‘child protection campaign’ that kicked off from Dailekh last year has also initiated in Surkhet. The drive has been put in place to make the girl children legally informed of sexual violence and rape and to boost up their confidence. With support from VSO-ICS, a non-government organization, the campaign will be rolled out in the communities and schools of all nine local levels in the district. Sajana Sunar, campaign coordinator, said the drive which went well in different communities and schools of Dailekh has been initiated in Surkhet.
The campaign will equip the girl children with legal knowledge and boost up their confidence thereby contributing to lessen the incidents of sexual violence, she expressed her confidence. According to Sunar, the campaign has already started from ward-1 of Birendranagar municipality. “The campaign will be scaled up in other areas as per the need”. She further shared, “Elected people’s representatives, office-bearers of Tole development organization, guardians and girl child are also directly participating in the campaign. The thrust is to boost the confidence of girl children and fight against the sexual violence”. rss
