Electric Crematorium Resumes Operation After Sterilization
30 May, Kathmandu : The electric crematorium at Pashupati is being resumed this afternoon after the sterilization. A person from Bungmati, Lalitpur, who died of coronavirus infection, was cremated here Wednesday.
Since then the crematorium was closed for disinfection, according to Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT).
PADT Director Raju Regmi informed that the crematorium was disinfected for 36 hours following the funeral of a man died of coronavirsus infection. The person was the fifth one to lose life to the COVID-19 in Nepal. Efforts are underway to bring into use the electric funeral place after 1:00pm.
Meanwhile, two persons involved in cremation were kept in quarantine and their RDT was conducted. They tested negative. They are now shifted to other places, added Regmi.
The employees in the crematorium would undergo PCR test again on the seventh day for further verification.
The kiriyaputri ghar (mourning house) is currently operative in Pashupati. Five rooms in the mourning house have been separated for quarantine. There are 42 rooms in the mourning house.
