Coronavirus infection : caseload reaches 2,912

5 June Kathmandu : With 278 new cases recorded on Friday, a total of 2,912 individuals from 68 districts out of 77 districts across the country have tested positive for coronavirus.
On Friday, people from Gorkha, Kaski and Humla were also tested positive for the coronavirus.

State Public Health Laboratory of Biratnagar confirmed 15 new cases– eight from Sunsari, six from Morang and one from Jhapa. Similarly, 22 infected individuals were confirmed from the State Public Health Laboratory of Rupandehi and they are from Arghakhanchi, Nawalparasi, Palpa and Rupandehi districts. It is confirmed that Rupandehi witnessed 18 new cases including a female.

Likewise, two each from Sindhuli and Bara were also tested positive for the virus. In a test carried out in State Public Health Laboratory of Pokhara, two males from Tanahun district were tested positive for the virus. It is said that 19 new cases were confirmed in Bhojpur, Jhapa, Sunsari and others as per the tests carried out in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.

Four males from Kailali, one each from Achham and Bajhang, and five males from Dadeldhura were also tested positive for the virus. Furthermore, 22 were infected during the tests carried out in Dhulikhel Hospital’s Lab. They are 17 males from Ramechhap, and two males and three females from Kavre.

Also, the officials said that 10 males from Jhapa district were also infected as confirmed from the test done in Koshi Hospital. In Karnali, 97 individuals including 90 from Dailekh district were tested positive for the virus as per the tests conducted in Karnali Academy of Health Sciences. Of them, three males are from Jumla and a male from Humla while a man from Dailekh and one from Gorkha, currently living in Jumla, were also infected with the virus.

Furthermore, two males were tested positive for the virus during the tests held in Rapti Academy of Health Sciences. Similarly, 74 individuals were infected with the virus while taking tests in National Public Health Laboratory. They are one from Gulmi, 44 from Kapilbastu, one from Kaski, 17 from Mahottari and six are from Rautahat.

Meanwhile, 43 persons were discharged from different hospitals across the country after winning the battle against the virus, according to Spokesperson of Ministry of Health and Population Dr Bikas Devkota. Till date, 333 coronavirus infected ones including 61 females have been discharged from the hospital.

It is said that 88,000 plus individuals were tested through PRC methods while 132,966 through RDT methods. Dr Devkota said that 2,568 people are in isolations while 166,765 under quarantines across the country.
