NC draws govt’s attention to lessen impact of COVID-19
10 June Kathmandu : The main opposition party, Nepali Congress has drawn the attention of the government to the steps it should take to lessen the immediate and long-term impact of COVID-19 pandemic and address the common concerns of the people.
A delegation led by NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel on Wednesday submitted a memorandum in this regard to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today. The memo was issued by the meeting of the NC central working committee on June 8.
The NC stressed the need for lessening economic and physical impact caused by the lockdown, managing quarantine facilities and medical treatment for the patients with heart and kidney ailments and pregnant women and cancer patients.
NC is always with the government in this regard, the memor said. There is a need to make rescue efforts, industries and agriculture sector dynamic and encourage and provide security to health workers, security agencies, cleaners and journalist and create job opportunities to hundreds of people, the NC stressed.
The NC has also underscored the need for production-oriented employment opportunities at local level and the government focuses on agriculture and food security. It demanded that the government eases supply of crops and fertilizers, ensure the market for agricultural products, provides immediate reliefs to farmers and industrialists and prioritises working class people in the informal sector.
