FNJ asks media outlets not to expel working journalists
June 17 Kathmandu : The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has urged media houses not to expel working journalists from their job citing COVID-19.
The FNJ central committee meeting on Tuesday took a decision in this regard. There are complaints that media outlets were depriving and cutting salaries of working journalists, not creating environment conducive for work and pressing them to resign citing the infection, according to a statement released by the FNJ.
FNJ has also asked the respective media houses to stop all such types of activities against working journalists, but follow the Working Journalist Act and inform it to the FNJ within a week, read the statement. It has warned of a series of a protest if the problems are not resolved in a week. It has appealed to all its State and district committees, and associate institutions to help safeguard professional rights of journalists.
