Mechi Abhiyan Distributed Health Items to All Local Bodies, Jhapa
22 June, Kathmandu : A support organization called Mechi Abhiyan, established in Jhapa district, has distributed various types of health items to all local bodies in Jhapa. Similarly, Rajendra Gautam, a member of the campaign, told NepalBahas that health items were also distributed in Damak Municipality today.
The program was attended by Mechi Campaign Coordinator Vijay Dalmiya, Nepali Congress Central Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma, Damak Municipality Mayor Romnath Oli, Nepali Congress General Committee member Sher Bahadur Bhattarai, Regional President Raj Bhandari and other local leaders and activists of the Nepali Congress.
At present, the transmission of Covid-19 is on the rise and corona disease is also increasing in Jhapa. Stating that it is not possible for the government alone to prevent and control the epidemic, Mechi said that the government needs to join hands with the local government in such national calamities. The Mechi campaign has handed over health items to all 15 local bodies in Jhapa district. “Let’s all help as much as we can,” said Vijay Dalmiya, coordinator of the Mechi Campaign.
Locals of Mechi Municipality also helped the earthquake victims during the catastrophic earthquake that hit the country in 2072 BS. Mechi Abhiyan, an organization set up by the youth under the leadership of Bishwa Prakash Sharma to provide necessary assistance to the earthquake victims in different parts of the country, has now come to Nepal-India border during the Corona epidemic. And with the idea of distributing food, health care materials in quarantine and distributing health supplies to the entire local level of Jhapa for the last time and also increasing the number of PCR tests to response the potential increasing number of patients in the coming days. It was informed that the health care materials is going to be used immediately .
Apart from this, Mechi Abhiyan also distributed 5 PPE sets, 100 Than Max and 1 carton of sanitizer to Damak Municipality, said Rajendra Gautam, a member of the campaign. It was informed at the program that the above mentioned health items have been handed over to all 15 local levels along with the handover in Damak today. The health items were jointly handed over by Nepali Congress Central Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Mechi Campaign Coordinator Vijay Dalmiya to Damak Municipality Mayor Romnath Oli.
Damak Municipality Mayor Romnath Oli thanked the entire team of Mechi Campaign for providing humanitarian assistance to Damak Municipality by distributing health items and providing necessary materials in such a crisis and understanding the seriousness of situation . Damak Municipality is working with utmost care as the number of infected people in Damak is not as high as elsewhere. He also requested the local residents to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
On the occasion, Prakash Prasai, a young leader of Nepali Congress and secretary of Damak Municipal Committee, former president of Damak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and local social worker asked why they were left behind when the Mechi Campaign arrived in Damak from Mechi. Prakash Regina Prasai had requested the Damak Municipality to bear the expenses and play a supportive role for this. On behalf of Damak Congress, heartfelt thanks were also extended to colleague Prakash and social worker Regina.
