Prime Minister Oli absent from NCP standing committee meet
26 June Kathmandu : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli chose not to attend the standing committee meeting of the Nepal Communist Party on Friday.
Though the meeting is taking place at his official residence in Baluwatar, the prime minister did not attend it after handing over the responsibility of chairing the meeting to another chairman of the party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the party sources say.
When the meeting began on Wednesday, Dahal had strongly criticised Oli‘s leadership. Of late, other members of the party have also accused Oli of failing to lead both the party and the government efficiently. Some analysts even think that the disgruntled members are preparing to demand Oli’s resignation from either of the positions.
In this context, his opponents say he is trying to avoid being questioned by snubbing the meeting. His supporters, however, have claimed that Oli has also got some other important tasks. They add his presence in the meeting is not compulsory as he has already addressed the meeting and he will know details of the discussion later anyway.
