Karnali: Own party’s lawmakers demand Finance Minister’s resignation

30 June Surkhet : Some lawmakers of the ruling Nepal Communist Party in Karnali Provincial Assembly have demanded that the Provincial Minister for Financial Affairs and Planning Minister Prakash Jwala resign.

The lawmakers made the demand expressing dissatisfaction over the annual budget statement that Jwala presented in the assembly on June 15.

Lawmaker Khadka Bahadur Khatri says the budget plan is against people’s sentiments and existing legal provisions, adding the minister should resign on the moral high ground. Similarly, other lawmakers have accused Jwala of distributing government funds as the current fiscal year approached its end.

The lawmakers say the minister’s statement did not match existing government documents, inviting the main opposition Nepali Congress to obstruct parliamentary meetings.

Some of them have also warned of not cooperating with the budget endorsement schedule unless their concerns are addressed.
