Irreparable loss from demise of Chhantyal : NC

1 July Kathmandu : NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the demise of Member of Parliament Gyan Kumari Chhantyal has caused an irreparable loss to the party. “The party has lost a dedicated and efficient women leader,” he said.

The central committee meeting of the party chaired by leader Deuba today passed a condolence motion, expressing profound sorrow over the demise of MP Chhantyal. The party has also extended heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, the party has decided to close down the party’s central office, flow the party flag to half-mast and not hold any formal programs to mourn the demise of lawmaker Chhantyal.

Born in Baglung in 2014 B.S., Chhantyal had begun her political career with Nepali Congress in 1989 and since then rose in the party rank from a member to a law maker. She was elected as PR member during the 2074 BS House of Representatives’ election from the Nepali Congress. She had also served as the member in the second Constituent Assembly representing the Baglung constituency-3.

The lawmaker passed away this morning in course of treatment for heart disease at the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre in the capital. She was 63.
