Number of coronavirus infection cases going down, 57 test positive today

18 July Kathmandu : The number of coronavirus infected people is declining in recent days. Only 57 cases of COVID-19 have been found in the tests carried in the last 24 hours.
One hundred and sixty seven people had tested positive for the virus on Thursday and 101 persons tested positive on Friday.

Two people from Morang and two people from Tehrathum tested positive for coronavirus in the tests carried out at BP Koirala Institute of Health Science Dharan laboratory, one person from Ilam and six persons from Morang tested positive for the virus in the tests conducted at Koshi Hospital Biratnagar, one person from Jhapa and one person from Moran tested positive in the test carried out at the Province Public Health Laboratory Biratnagar and one person from Bara tested positive to the coronavirus in the tests carried out at the Province Public Health Narayani Hospital laboratory in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, two people from Sarlahi and two from Nuwakot tested positive for coronavirus in the tests carried out at the National Public Health Laboratory Teku, one person from Baglung and one from Parbat tested positive in tests carried out at the Province Public Health Laboratory Pokhara, Two people from Gulmi and two from Palpa tested positive in tests conducted at Province Public Health Laboratory Rupandehi, one person from Dailekh was found infected with coronavirus in the tests conducted at the Province Hospital Laboratory Surkhet, four persons from Dailekh tested positive in the tests conducted at the Dailekh PCR Laboratory Dailekh, and one person from Salyan and three people from Rukum Paschim tested positive in the test conducted at Chaurjahari Municipality PCR Laboratory.

Likewise, two people from Dadeldhura, two people from Bajhang and seven from Doti tested positive for the virus in the tests carried out at Dadeldhura Hospital, and 13 people from Kailali and one person from Kanchanpur tested positive in the tests carried out at Seti Province Hospital Laboratory.

The number of active infected cases at present is 5,825 while the total number of infected has reached 17 thousand 502. This also includes those people who have been discharged after recovery. Samples collected from 3,331 people were tested using the PCR method in 27 health laboratories in the last 24 hours, the Health and Population Ministry’s spokesperson Prof Dr Jageshwor Gautam said.

The number of people in quarantine is 23 thousand 275 and that of those in isolation is 5,825. One hundred and three people were discharged after health recovery in the last 24 hours. The number of people discharged till date is 11 thousand 637 (66.12 per cent). The Ministry has thanked the doctors, nurses, health workers and other assistants who were involved in their treatment and care. It has also called upon one and all to follow the minimum public health safety protocols.

Dr Gautam said that 767 calls were received from the two call centres of the Ministry. On the occasion, he said that the rate of PCR test in Nepal is better than Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India in the SAARC region.

Likewise, the death rate per one million is less in Nepal in compared to Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Afghanistan and Pakistan. In Afghanistan, the rate of PCR test in per one million is 2,133 while it is 6,110 in Bangladesh, 6,327 in Sri Lanka, 7,686 in Pakistan and 9,730 in India. Likewise, the PCR test rate in Nepal is 10,695, according to Dr Gautam.
