245th birth anniversary of Bhimsen Thapa observed

Condolence has been offered to national luminary Bhimsen Thapa on his 245th Birth Anniversary today here. No public gathering has been organised this year due to COVID-19 pandemic, said the National Luminary Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Academy.
Thapa was born in Borlang in Gorkha district on Shrawan 1, 1832 B.S. to father Amar Singh Thapa and mother Satyarupa. Thapa was elder of his four brothers. He got the title of commander at the age of 23.
Having fought for national independence and stability, he showed his bravery in a battle with British ruler. He died on Shrawan 8, 1896 in prison. The Academy had been providing an award to a historian in memory of Thapa.
However, there is a break in the award distribution this year due to COVID-19 pandemic, said the Academy secretary LaxmanThapa.
