Three more dead, 139 new individuals test positive for COVID-19

With the increased number of cases in the recent days, risks of coronavirus infection have become more visible.

Mostly, the cities of Biratnagar, Birgunj, Nepalgunj and others that border with India have witnessed more infected cases, bringing the normal life under panic. In the past 24 hours, three more people including an Indian national succumbed to the virus, the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed.

Likewise, 139 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in last 24 hours bringing the tally to 18,572. A 36-year-old man from Shahidnagar Municipality-8 in Dhunsha district and a 60-year-old man from Pheta Rural Municipality in Bara district died of the infection in the past 24 hours, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said.

The man from Dhanusha district died on the way to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan while the one from Bara was receiving treatment at TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for pneumonia, brain hemorrhage and kidney-related ailments.

Likewise, the Indian national died in Gandak Hospital in Birgunj. He was also the patient of heart and kidney disease. With this the total number of deaths from coronavirus in the country has reached 48.

Out of new coronavirus infected people, the highest number of infected people is found in Dailekh, which is 28. Similarly, 21 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Saptari, 18 in Parsa, 10 each in Dhanusha and Mahotari, four in Baitadi, three each in Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Kaski, two each in Parsa and Salyan and one each in Kavrepalanchowk, Banke, Rupandehi and Surkhet, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson of the Ministry, Dr Gautam, said that 626 people returned home after complete recovery in last 24 hours. With this, the number of people discharged after recovery has reached 13,754.

A total of 789 people have returned home after recovery in state 1, 2,972 I state-2, 517 in Bagmati state, 1,204 in Gandaki state, 3,910 in state-5, 1,608 in Karnali state and 2,754 in Sudurpaschim state so far, he shared.

There are 195 active cases of coronavirus in State-1, 1,911 in State-2, 402 in Bagmatim State, 244 in Gandaki State, 353 in State-5, 375 in Karnali State and 1,740 in Sudurpaschim State, according to the Ministry. It is said that 16,379 people are in quarantine facilities across the nation.
