Flood flows through human settlements : four went missing
Godabari : Normal life in Kailali has been affected due to incessant rain occurred since Tuesday evening. The downpour has left the eastern belt of the district waterlogged.
Hundreds of houses have been submerged and four people went missing in the floods occurred in different rivers of the districts following the rainfalls. Police informed four people went missing from different areas of Bhajani municipality in the district.
According to the District Police Office, the river swept away four people from Bhajani municipality-8, Sonafanta area. Four persons including 11-year-old grandson of Thaggu Chaudhary of Bhajani-8, Sonaphanta went missing in the river. The search for the disappeared is going on, said Police Inspector at Bhajani Area Police Post, Janak Thami.
The floods have affected around 700 households across the district till Wednesday evening according to the District Emergency Work Operation Centre.
Chief District Officer Yagya Raj Bohara said the floods survivors have been shifted to nearby schools and community buildings. He further siad the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police personnel have been mobilized to carry out rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit areas.
Meanwhile, as many as 1,800 people have been displaced at Bhajani-8 due to flood in the Kandra River. They have been kept under the tents in the secured areas nearby.
The human settlements at Bhajani, Tikapur, Lamki and Joshipur rural municipalities have been submerged due to rise in the water levels in Kandra, Kada and Patharaqiya of the district.
