Baglung Bazaar Closed a for Week
18 Aug, Baglung : The Baglung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) has decided to close the Baglung Bazaar for a week, beginning from last midnight citing the growing risk of COVID-19. It has called on the local business community to follow the decision.
In a press statement on Monday, the Chamber has called on the business community to close all shops and stores except those supplying most essential goods and services such as foodstuffs, dairy products, drinking water, medicines, sanitary products, vegetables and cooking fuel. Suppliers have been urged to make arrangements for the service delivery in limited hours: 7:30 am to 10:00 am and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm each day.
Local people’s representative Jeevan Acharya said the move was for mitigating the infection risk when the people’s movement and gathering in market areas soared. The infection has started seen in the community. Few days back, the virus was detected on people’s representative, health worker and trader.
Prior to this, the District Crisis Management and Security Committee had decided to implement the odd-even number plate system in operation of vehicles from Sunday. Gatherings and demonstration at public places have been prohibited. Religious activities in temples except daily rituals, cultural festival, fair, public programme, seminar, and other sorts of gatherings are not allowed to be held. Hotels and restaurants have been urged to provide only a takeaway service. Similarly, the Badigad rural municipality has been sealed off till August 23 after the ward chair tested positive for the virus.
