Police inspector Shahi remanded in custody for seven days

26 June Kathmandu : The Kathmandu District Court has remanded Nepal Police Inspector Rudra Shahi in custody for seven days. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in a case that amounts to drug smuggling.

SP Praveen Dhital of the Narcotics Control Bureau says the bureau will now record statements from Shahi and investigate into the charges.

Earlier on Wednesday, the bureau had launched an operation in Pepsicola in eastern Kathmandu and arrested four persons. The four had informed the investigators that Shahi was also involved in illegal transactions.

It has been learned that Shahi himself was a drug user also. He was in regular contact with the other arrestees.
