Protest demanding PCR test : Ghodaghodi Municipality

10 June, Ghodaghodi : The persons tested positive for RDT and currently staying in quarantine at Ghodaghodi Municipality of Kailali district protested on Wednesday, demanding PCR test.

They blamed the local government that it failed to manage quarantine facility- fed plastic rice and polluted water and forced to squalid toilet. They further accused that the concerned local government did not pay heed to their demand despite repeated prodding.

Kewal Batala from Ghodaghodi-9 who is isolation ward said as their demands was not addressed, those in isolation had to take to street for protest.

However, Municipality Mayor Mamata Prasad Chaudhary said as the State government had directed to stop swab collection, it was halted resulting into the PCR test. There was shortage of VTM which is needed for swab collection.

Now onwards, the Municipality itself buys VTM and forward the swab collection, he added. The problem flared also because the community colleges are turned into isolation wards.
